queer (2024)
queer (2024) is one the most interesting films i’ve seen in the past few years. each scene feels deliberately constructed, with symbolism woven into the fabric of the storytelling rather than simply layered on top of it. there’s a sense that the film is not just meant to be watched, but actively read. those willing to dig beneath the surface will find will notice more layers of meaning.

after watching the film, i also read the book. interestingly, i found the adaptation more impressive than the source material. the book traces lee’s experiences in a more linear way and the film builds a richer, more ambiguous world that seems to exist beneath the narrative itself.
